Why "Fancis"?
You may have seen brief news stories, as I did, explaining why the Holy Father chose to be called "Fancis." Our local news spoke mostly about St. Francis in relation to creation, making the Pope sound more like an environmentalist than head of the Universal Church. Like many of you, I also read some short articles with single sentences quoted from the Holy Father. Thank goodness CNS posted the entire explanation, with English subtitles, on YouTube. It's short and clear. Enjoy!
